Yapı Kredi is establishing a cryptocurrency trading platform.

One of Turkey's largest banks, Yapı Kredi, announced today in a notification to the Public Disclosure Platform that it plans to establish a cryptocurrency trading platform. The statement regarding this matter noted that the platform is expected to be created under the ownership of Yapı Kredi Financial Technology Inc. In this context, it was stated that a decision was made for a capital increase of up to 1 billion 185 million TL with the bank's participation to meet the capital needs of Yapı Kredi Financial Technology Inc. The statement was as follows:

"The Bank's Board of Directors has decided to authorize our Bank to participate in the capital increases of Yapı Kredi Finansal Teknolojiler A.Ş. up to a total of 1,185,000,000 TL, which will be carried out until March 26, 2026, for the purpose of meeting the capital needs of the company, which is planned to be established to operate as a crypto asset buy and sell platform, with the condition of obtaining the relevant permissions. The General Directorate is also authorized to carry out all necessary applications and transactions. Important developments regarding the process will be shared with our investors."

Yapı Kredi applied to the Capital Markets Board in November 2024 to offer custody services for cryptocurrencies.
