After watching "Catch the Wind and Capture Shadows," I have to point out a few things:
1. Promotional video scam
The trailer relied on a few young actors to attract attention with their fight scenes, but in the actual film, they were almost like bystanders, with most of the scenes being dominated by Zhang Zifeng, leaving a large wave of fans and viewers cursing in their hearts.
2. Tony Leung becomes the male lead in an action film.
The veteran actor's performance is perfectly fine, but there are ridiculous amounts of fight scenes, almost like a Hong Kong version of Jackie Chan. The audience is left bewildered: Brother Jia Hui, weren't you here to showcase your acting skills? Why are you just showing off your stamina throughout?
3. The protagonist has an invincible aura that exceeds expectations.
Cutting throats, single-handedly facing dozens, falling from the building, the building is blown up, the main character endures it all and remains unscathed; in contrast, the supporting character gets a cut on the thigh and it's Game Over. This health bar setting is truly like hacking, it's literally filmed as a fantasy crime film.
The overall feeling is: the beginning is full of Hong Kong flavor, but the later plot directly becomes a dumbing-down version of a feel-good story, and the only thing supporting the audience to keep watching is the actors' performances and the occasional fight scenes.
